Adding speed camera detection to 2002 M3

Hi all,

I have a 2002 M3 which has a CD Sat Nav with BMW digital road map 2002 version. Whilst I am not that bothered about the map being slightly out of date, I do want to get speed camera alerts.

The options that I can think of are:

1) Update the old disc with a new disc that has speed camera locations included
2) Add an additional Sat Nav to the dash/windscreen that has speed camera locations
3) Get a stand alone unit that just does speed camera alerts

Regarding option 1, BMW Park Lane told me that the latest discs they have don't have speed camera locations. Option 2 would be messy, who wants 2 Sat Navs in the car. Which leaves me to conclude that I need to go for option 3.

Does anyone see flaws to my logic?

Also, would be great to know if any one has experience with any standalone speed camera detectors. From my limited research on the subject Novus Alpha, Snooper Sapphire and Pogo Alert look to be good options.

Search ebay for a chap called rustymidgetman, i have the MK4 dvd nav & rusty supplys the latest nav discs with UK & eu mobile & fixed camera locations for about £20 delivered.
Used him for the last couple of years & the discs work fine.

As Darreni says, I can also recommend the same supplier on ebay for updated discs and firmware. However, you will have a Mk3 CD based navigation system in your 2002 M3 - you will need to upgrade to a Mk4 DVD based system - around £400 on ebay, but should be plug and play - a 2008 map and firmware upgrade will be around £22 on ebay. The new system will give up significantly better graphics, birdseye view, speed-camera indication (no audible warning though), 7 digit postcode search and European mapping, and be much faster to reroute and enter addresses - also will have TMC which can be useful.

I've never seen a speed camera database POI for the CD based system.
