Alpina running in service

Hi guys, I'm a noob to this forum so hello.

I have just put a deposit down on a 2004 Alpina Roadster S. Everything looks fine except for it has had it's running in service done at 2800 miles rather than 1200 miles. Is this a big problem as I don't want to pay all that money otherwise.

I cant see it being a major problem, that late service does not = a catastrophic engine failure or anything mate!!

What is the rest of the history like?!

I wouldn't worry about it - the running in service is a legacy of the block it uses - the S52 M3 block - which used to be run in on different oil. The 3.4 engine is pretty understressed, so it won't have been an issue at 2400 miles.

My B3 3.3 didn't have it's running in until 5200 miles, and now at 92,000 miles and still churning out more than it's quoted power.

Probably won't affect the running of the car but it MIGHT affect resale if the RIS is recommended at 1,200 miles and has been missed.
Why not call Sytner Nottingham and get their position on it.
If they think it could be an issue then don't pay top money for it as you might not get it when selling.

I've heard of BMW main dealers wriggling out of warranty claims on M3s that had their running-in service done less late than that, so tread carefully.

If it comes with a warranty I suggest you call BMW in Bracknell and get them to send you a letter confirming the same. Then, if you ever make a warranty claim you can simply wave the letter in the dealer's face.
