x5 diesel 3 litre

Hi all, A friend of mine is looking to buy an X5 3 litre Diesel. Has anyone got one, any good and bad points? Also any rough idea of economy?

26-27 mpg if driven carefully, still a bit like a shed, X3 is a little better but not as imposing.

got a friend who is unhappy with av 25 mpg in his X3 NOT X5 30d

i'm selling mine as it averages just 25 / 27 mpg, and thats in an e70 version. At £1.30 a litre, i'm spending £500 a month on fuel.

Unless he really must have a 4x4 OR does very very low miles and will do so for the forseeable future, i'd be very wary.

i get 22mpg from my 4.4 ,when you weigh up the price advantage petrol has over diesel plus the fact they are generally cheaper to buy maybe your pal should consider a petrol,maybe a 3.0

I got 40mpg once on a long motorway run with a fully loaded X5 3.0d (chipped)and some very carefull driving so it's possible to get some decent mpg. But then again if your muching motorway miles - why get an X5 at all ?
