3 series wing mirror

hey ladies and gents!
sorry to ask such an odd question but i'm not a bmw driver. is there a serial number or something that i can call up my local garage with to get a price to replace a drivers wing mirror? if so where would i find it?
my friend has a 3series and unfortunatley on the way to the airport last night some little boy racer in a roller skate of a saxo decided to take the mirror with him!
i don't know anything about the car except that it's a 51 plate. i said that i'd sort it for him as he's away for some time and hoping to sell ASAP as it's not needed anymore.
