E21 323i - Value ?

Hi,
This is one of my late friends cars that we need to find a new home for. Anyone care to put a value on it or suggest what could be done with it. Unfortunately the interior has been trashed a little. It is supposed to be a runner, but I didn't try.

I suppose the trouble is you'd have to spend a fortune to put it right again.

It looks restorable. But in that condition, it cant be worth much.. £500 tops I would have thought? Its going to need a lot of work to get that roadworthy. What on earth happened to the interior?!
The engine looks surprisingly clean considering.. I think most folks would probably just scrap it.. But this would be a shame. Nice E21's are a rare sight these days. Would be great to see it restored

Local scrotes broke into the garage where its being stored and used it as a living room.

Both? I don't do eBay myself. But it can't hurt to try. You might even get some interest from here too. I just gave this car/post a mention in the 'shed of the week' thread, as this week its an E21 316..

I'm waiting for more info on the engine, as evidently its a bit special. It was rebuilt and blueprinted apparently and is possibly 2.5L

Having owned a couple of these, I'd say that if he polished and tidied it up and got the wiring sorted, he might get £1000 for it. As it stands, I'd not see it going for much more than £250.

I might have a steering wheel in slightly better nick lying around somewhere, free to a good home if that will help?

I'd definitely have it cleaned up well, the wiring tidied, maybe a s/h gear knob and a steering wheel. Then you might have a chance of selling it. Otherwise it looks about £100 as it sits.

The modded engine may not make it worth more. If you were about to spend £1000's restoring a car, would you want the engine to be original or modded?
