635 csi Highline

Just added this beauty to the "Stable" Ok so I only have two cars in it but its a start







I'm sure I'm gonna have a number of questions to ask those in the know but the first is this:

- are the instrument lights normally very dim on these cars. If not any ideas on a fix?

One of the classic cars of all time from BMW, what a shape and what an engine. Top find and look after it well! Re instruments lights, look at fuses and then bulbs....it should not be dim, unless you turn down the lighting.

That is lovely, the colour is unusual and those alpinas suit it just right. The side skirts actually look quite good too.

They shouldn't be dim but wont be dazzling like a lot of modern cars.

The instrument cluster on my Highline is perfectly visible - the adjustment is twisting the headlamp pull switch either left or right. I've noticed that when mine is a little dim, it's because switching the lights on and off can lead to inadvertant adjustment

thanks for the nice comments folks. The car is beautiful. I would say its even cooler than the Cerb. I found the instrument lights adjuster and its fully on so I'll check the fuses before delving into the dash to find the bulbs. I'm thinking of getting the interior freshened up a little. A search on here turned up a guy in Warrington who did a superb job apparently. Also looking for a beefier steering wheel. Anybody any thoughts on brand. I'm looking for something similar to a wood and leather wheel that I had on a range rover I had a couple of years ago. Must admit the car is as smooth as silk to drive. I feel a bit like Gene Hunt - Ashes to ashes!

It's a lovely colour, mate. Plus your bodywork looks pretty well perfect. Mine looks good in photos but is a wee bit untidy here and there - was budgeting for a respray after some lucrative work, but just bought a new house which requires boring things like kitchens and bathrooms. B*gger! Still the six has a warm garage to keep the rust from getting toooo bad.

The lamps in the cluster are now obsolete at BMW dealers IIRC, people used to get given a slightly higher wattage one from the BMW dealer as a replacement which then burnt the instrument panel as a result.

I'd say the previous owner has played it safe and fitted lower wattage lamps, either that or try a new headlight control switch.
