E21 3series

being only 19, there are not too many nice cars i can have due to cost of car, and insurance purposes. recently (shed of the week) i got an old e21 316, with 1.8l engine. someone at work insists it's a heap of rubbish, simply because it's old. it doesn't drive old, it feels lovely to drive to me, so pure and basic. the person in question is 37 and has an 02 plate sh*troen c5 which in my opinion is a boring car. i said to him i thought the old 3series is way more interesting than his piece of crap. and i don't think there will be many driving enthusiasts driving old citroen c5's in another 20years, do you?

is it just me who likes the e21 3series for it's simplicity, yet, in my opinion, aggressive front grill. and is the old c5 more interesting to look at? surely not?

Well done,fly the flag for these great old BMW's,when I was 18 I had an old 1502 that was'nt apreciated by others in metros and fiesta populars !

that's the thing, i don't think my friends who drive such cars as corsas, ford KA's etc etc (you get the idea, small, slow, 3 door hatch backs which are front wheel drive), mine i big for a young driver, relatively quick-ish, 3door coupe with plenty of room, a huge boot and...it's rear wheel drive

anyone else think it's more interesting than an old c5? or whether im good for choosing this over a normal hatch everyone my age has...

my dad used to have an e46 330d (facelifted version and chipped to just over 240bhp) and i must say the build quality of that seemed very good. only had it for 3.5 years and 92k miles, but not one thing went wrong on it, it was a great car. then got a merc and it's gone wrong lots. but the e21 i have, i just get the impression that it was built to last for ever. don't know how to describe it. i like it at least certainly more of a 'pistonhead' car than a c5 right?
