335d brake problem?

The last couple of times I've come to start my 335d, the brake pedal is very hard/heavy to depress (which you to have before it will start it of course). The feel is as though it's been pumped with the engine turned off, which it hasn't.

The brakes and their feel are fine once the engine is running.

I assume I have some kind of servo issue. Is it common, will it get worse, should I just leave it for a couple of months until it needs a service, etc?

Sounds like the servo leaks down too quickly. See what happens immediately after the engine shuts off - how many pumps does it take till the pedal effort goes up? And try it after another shut-off but wait 5 minutes. Assuming it's OK immediately after shut-down you should be OK - you want servo assist in case the engine dies when the car's moving. That said the steering effort will take two men and a boy without the engine.

Mine used to do that occasionally and I raised a thread on here about it some time back.

It was juts something I got used to and hardly noticed - didn't seem to affect braking performance once on the move.

Same here on a 335i. Only happens occasionally. Never bothered the dealer as I knew the response of 'We have checked and it has not happen for us' would be the reply.

The hard brake pedal is a known problem that can be fixed by fitting a modified valve to the brake servo,contact your dealer
