Worth paying for services up front

My wife is buying a 135i & I was wondering whether with the condition based servicing on BMW's it would be worth her paying £495 for 3 years servicing. She does approx. 12000 miles a year mostly on A & B roads not much in towns or motorways.

That's probably going to include an Oil Service, Inspection 1 and brake fluid change.

You'll probably break even - but only just and only if you dont shop around main dealers for the best price.

I thought that it would be at least 2 oil services but wasn't sure whether the mileages came down if the car was pushed?

12k a year, you should get thru 3 services and a brake fluid change especially if you push the car hard.

I thought it sounded like a good deal but was wondering whether there was a catch as I don't expect car manufacturers / dealers to give you something for nothing. When youi say 3 oil changes does that mean the mileage between services will come down the harder you push the car?

We don't think we do push cars but the comments my wife gets when she takes her WRX in for a service seems to suggest differently or maybe they are pulling her leg?

Oil service, Insp 1, Oil service plus brake fluid. Mileage will come down depending on driving styles....

If that's the case from the prices I have been quoted for individual services then it's definately worth it. I had better read the small print to make sure everything is covered.

What sort of mileage are people getting between services on the tt petrol then. The first oil service on the 120d was at 22K, I'm just taking it in at 30K for the two year old brake fluid and microfilter change. It will of cost about £370 in servicing by then. I think you'll find the £495 package is up to 36K miles. The 335d should have its first service at about 16K when it will be about 18 months old. We had a service pack on our last 330d AUC (didn't buy it, the salesman didn't even tell us about it, we only found out when a service was due). It was the expensive one as well, 100K including brakes. No wonder they gave us a good trade in.

It would be nice to have the service & maintenance but at £1600 for 5 years I can't see we would get our money back. If I have to have the brake discs done then I'll probably go to an independent to keep the cost's down.
