Hi guys,

Does anyone have an idea how I can delete the telephone numbers on my E46 bluetooth phonebook? I've just bought the car and it still has the previous owners contacts on there

How do I then upload the numbers from my mobile?

I've had alook through the owners manual and can't find any info in there.

To delete the old phones (and their phone books).

Jump in the car, press and hold the pair button (centre console) and turn ignition to stage 1 ( radio crt), wait 3 seconds, then release, immediately re-press the pair button and wait 10 seconds, all the old phones will be deleted.

Paring

Turn Bluetooth on the phone and set to show to all,
Press and hold the Pair button (centre console)
Turn on ignition to stage 1 (radio crt)
Wait 3 seconds,
Release pair button,
ULF should beep,
The display should say "pairing"
Turn on search for bt devices on the phone, it should now find the ULF "BMWJU67890"
Insert the ULF code (on the phone)
Accept (on phone)
You should hear a beep to confirm pairing,
Turn off ignition to save pair on ULF

If your phone supports pbap then your numbers will be auto transfered to the ULF.

Job done

thanks ccj!

I've managed to delete previously paired devices and paired my handset (nokia n95) but the phonebook hasn't transferred. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Yes, I have the n95 and a Gen12 ULF, I have transfered the phone book over manually and it works perfectly.

First delete the pairing with the phone and the ULF and start again.

Then go into pairing mode on the car, and use the N95 to find the car. Enter your pin number so the phone is paired. Don't exit pairing mode on the BMW yet.

Now on the N95 go to contacts. Select about 10-15 contacts (hold down the pen key and scroll down). Then go to options -> send business card -> via bluetooth. Select the BMW from the list of bluetooth devices and it'll send them across. Repeat for the rest of your contact list.

You may end up with a few duplicates in your BMW phonebook depending on whether your original contacts had multiple phone numbers or not. But it definitely works and displays incoming call name properly etc.

I tried doing the whole contacts list in one go but it failed - doing it piecemeal takes a little longer but its a one time thing.

Hi everyone
I too have a phone book full of numbers from previous owners. My car is a 2004 325ti. This car doesn’t have the Bluetooth button on the console and I used the “bridge the 1 and 17 pins on the connector” in under the centre console. The phone (iPhone 10) is paired successfully but seems to call an older stored number whenever I try to use it. How can I clear the phone book in this situation? The guy at the other end is running out of patience.....

Also, are there any instructions on general use of the Bluetooth phone system? The main handbook says to refer to the separate booklet on the telephone system which in turn tells you how to pair the phone, but nothing much more. Did I miss something?
Cheers JB
