E60 530D - Reliable?

Friends selling his E60 530d, its his daily driver and he drives a LOT so it has 160K miles on! It will be cheap, toying with buying it for my wife and it will do very little mileage. Question is are they reliable and what are the weak points?

I have a 2003 E60 530d SE Auto.

So far it’s been bullet proof. I drive the car pretty hard to be honest and it’s taken it all in its stride.

Would recommend the car all day long. Just be repaired for the £80 fuel bill, for me that covers 350 miles..........

If you can get an Msport but the SE is a very smooth and comfortable drive.

You only get 25mpg?

I get approx 450 - 500 miles per £80 tank out of my 535D, and I'm a little too heavy with my right foot...

I think there may be something wrong with your car, unless you do a lot of city driving and every traffic light is a grand prix.

Not every set of lights!

I live in Hampshire, lots of country roads, even more junctions! Sadly around town the OCB shows over a entire tank 24.7mpg.

If the other half drives it she gets 36mpg....

I did manage to get 38mpg on the way to Le Mans so the cars fine its just the driver.

I also fill it up when it gets to around the 80 miles to run mark. Usually with no Motorways its always around 350.

Currently i have 166 to run, with 305 showing but thats with a 100 mile trip up and down the M3.
