opinions on cost of new alpina D3 BI turbo saloon

Guys interested in your opinions of the following from Alpina forum ,would i allways wish i went for the standard 6 cylinder model In an email to www.theALPINAregister.com Sytner Nottingham today advised us of the confirmed prices for the soon to be released D3 Bi-Turbo LCI/Facelift Saloon and Touring models.

The pricing for the new D3 Saloon and Touring models is:

Saloon £29,950 OTR

Touring £31,950 OTR

Both models will be ‘fixed specification’ like the first generation, unlike the Coupe which is not a fixed spec.

the Switch-tronic Automatic option will cost an additonal £1635.

Sytner commented that as before, the retail price is much more competitive by doing it this way.

Both cars also benefit from the BMW facelift changes and BMW Efficient Dynamics.

Delivery of the first batch of cars will be January 2009.

Although it wasn't confirmed, expect there to be 4 or 5 standard metallic colours as before and also expect there to be 2 no cost option wheel choices.

Seems a lot for what is essentially a 320d Sport. And the only place you can trade it in is Sytners, so likely they'll give you a derisory offer come resale time.

What is the fixed spec.??

The new iDrive is fantastic so they should have included this, not to is just foolish.

These cars need, leather, xenons, usb, idrive and bluetooth.

Essentially a 320d M Sport? Sorry but I disagree there.

I rekon soon they will be, Im guestimating that they could be mapped to over 250bhp.

Err no, the 320d Sport is not twin turbo.

You can trade in an Alpina anywhere?

My understanding is that normal BMW dealers can't sell them, so will only offer you peanuts.

I based the 320d M-Sport comment on the previous D3 spec, although I believe the new one is the 123d engine, like the coupe?

They certainly can - my local dealer had a B3 Cabrio for a bit a while back and we are a long way from Sytner.

A BMW dealer can sell what they want, and to be fair the D3 seeems to hold on to its value far better than a regular BMW, so it may not be a bad buy, but if they charge you £3k extra to change the spec. again it will become a £40k car with a couple of essential options.

As others have said Alpinas can now be bought from other BMW dealers. Sytner Nottingham did have exclusivity for many years and even carried out conversions. Whether Sytner still have exclusivity on any element of supply I do not know.

Having said that, most BMW dealers are part of the Sytner group anyway.
