Price advice e34 535i

Anyways fancied one of these (maybe even dreamed) but my mate informed me he got one with not much more mileage for £1,200 a few years back but the below car appears completely mint, any ideas if its good value-

Here is an immaculate and 100% original E34 5 Series 535 SE Manual, with only 54,000 miles from new. If you are looking for a low mileage E34, you will not find a better example, the deep shine Black paintwork looks totally original and looks fantastic, no dents or scratches, even inside the arches is all still as it left the factory. The Silver cloth interior is in the same shape, no wear at all. Now to look and drive this BMW there is no doubting the mileage but of course the car comes with full service history and every MOT from new to back this up. I bought the car directly off the last owner of 10 years he explained he only reluctantly let the car go as he need the space in his garage for his new toy, a motorbike. He explained that in his ownership the car has been trouble free and only used at dry weekends for special trips out. This classic BMW comes with a good spec including PAS, ABS, Heated Seats, Ice Cold Air Conditioning, Cruise control, Limited Slip Diff, Electric windows front and back, Electric mirrors, Electric sunroof, On Board Computer, Leather steering wheel, Full toolkit etc. A nice touch is that the BMW had brake dust wheel protectors fitted from new, so the BMW BBS alloys are in perfect condition. This car is a dream to drive, with such low mileage everything feels so fresh, the 3.5 straight six engine is perfectly smooth and has all the power BMW intended, the manual gearbox slots into gear with ease. Rest assured everything on this car works perfectly and we have had Bury Road fully service the car and give it a fresh MOT, which of course it sailed through. The can't be many E34's with this genuine low mileage and this example has been fully service so its ready to be enjoyed.

The price on these varies loads, from a few hundred quid to the price your looking at.

...for nearly 3K in a private sale last year and that was top dollar ,it had done 70K with F.S.H and was nigh on a show car as you can see from the pics.Funny enough it ended up on the same site as the car your asking about a few months ago with an asking price of 4k but mine was a Sport model with some extra trimmings,Sports are worth a bit more and are easier to sell.
I too noticed this particular 535, it does seem a particulary good one,if you want to buy it and use it for a good few years im sure it'll serve you well and provide lots of enjoyable motoring for not a lot of cash outlay but if you wanted to run it for a short period of time and then move it on it may not be the best bet.Parts /sericing are reasonable,13-16MPG around town and 25MPG on a run are not...
Im sure someone will buy it soon enough anyway, if I had the spare ££ and some extra space id be tempted.

Yeah fuel economy didn't even enter my mind when I first saw that car, just that I had always dreamed of owning one and its excellent condition. Its like a constant battle between the heart and mind with me because I keep checking the damn pics of it drooling, god I love old bimmers

I traded my E30 325i for a 1990 E34 535i M Sport about 7 years ago and paid 1500 exc part ex from an independent dealer. I loved the car - full electrics, even headrests, alpina alloys, gun metal grey, great 12 valve straight 6. It was smooth, powerful enough when exercised, sounded great and the build quality set it apart from most other makes. I miss it now and wished I converted to LPG as running one now would be crippling. That said, if you paid 1500 for one and averaged 22 mpg or so it would still work out cheaper than buying a 4000 1.8 litre Mondeo and running that for a 3 year period and so much more fun!
