New X3

Does anyone have an idea when the new X3 is likely to be introduced? I am looking to purchase one, and would, ideally, rather the new model.

one question- why? (as curious regrading why not a more spacier x5 or a more normal 3/5 series estate, x3 always seems a bit weird to me)

Higher driving position and need for occasional offroad capability (specifically dirt tracks which a saloon car would not cope with). X5 is too large for my needs.
