I have had my Sept 07 335i M Sport manual tourer for a 6 weeks now and I'm keen to improve the car still further whilst retaining the BMW warranty and not spending a fortune. As far as my searches go, it appears that both Birds and Evolve are offering warrantied remaps to improve the power and torque. I am also told that the remaps 'should' improve the throttle response which I currently find pretty lethargic, a consequence of it not being an M Car and also being a Turbo. I would like to see an increase in all round performance so long as it is not at the expense of driveability, something this car currently has in abundance.
Couple of questions:
1. I gather that there are several software versions for this engine, the earlier versions being more lag free than the latter ones. How can I find out what version mine is without plugging it in at a dealer and will this make a difference to the remap results?
2. Can anyone provide me with advice as to whether to go with Birds (Dinan I believe), Evolve or another remap?
3. I tend to switch off Traction Control most of the time and given I do not track the vehicle so I'm not sure I will see the benefit of the Birds LSD day-to-day. Any experience of the Birds LSD welcome to help me decide.

Re the software,probably only the dealers will know-they will prob have a record of whats been done.
I d go with the Dinan map if possible-or a plug and play which can be removed easily.
The LSD will make a much greater difference than expected to the handling.Even in normal driving it will always be an advantage in terms of traction.

I have several friends with 335i's. One has a Evolve remap and is very fast. Approx 370bhp but did go into limp mode on track. It hadnt done it on the road so I think you will be fine. As far as im aware Evolve are adressing the limp mode issue anyhow.
Plug in modules are good for big power but too can give Limp mode. The Proceede Box V3.0 is fine for the road. My friend running that has not yet hit the track.
Regarding the diff, I think its money well spent. The car hooks up very well out of roundabouts and traction is alot better out of bends compared with the stock Differential. It really should have been fitted from the factory. The stock car is always being held back by T/C or spins the inside wheel when its disabled. Something I think I will buy after being out in a mates LSD equipped 335i. Superb.

Don't BMW invalidate the warranty if remapped? Asking as was reading on rs246 that Audi dealerships can pick up any remaps or any 'over abuse' and will use it to get out of a claim.Couple of questions:

Until the major players such as DMS deliver a decent option my car will remain stock.

The option in my mind is the 380bhp unit from Birds, and am booked in to have it done in 10 days time. Anyone know of the technical differences between this and a unit from Evolve or other players? Birds also sell a 360bhp unit, but seeing as my car has teh factory oil cooler, it makes sense to go for the 380bhp. Only reservation is price. About £1600. Evolve is around £1000 from memory. Any personal experience and all views welcome.
