Alpina D3

Greetings Alpina fans! I`d like to install a cold air induction system to my 2007 D3. Does anybody know if the standard induction system is based on a 320d or did they pinch some parts out of the 330d bin again(Turbo/intercooler/injectors where all borrowed from the 330d apparently), particularly important for this conversion is details of the air flow meter.
If it was based on the 320d, did they utilise the 163 HP version throughout its build or did they use the 177 HP version before the bi turbo version superceeded both(if so, when was the changeover date?).

Finally, can anyone recommend a replacement induction system that you have fitted to your car(320d or D3), they appear to be a bit thin on the ground apart from a standard replacement element from K & N and the likes. Thanks in advance, Adrian.

from what I can gather, diesels dont respond very well to bigger intakes and the amount of power produced is more to do with the amount of fuel and turbo boost you can chuck at it rather than more air.

You'll likely just knacker your MAF sensor instead of increasing power.

I thought there were some good high capacity/performance intercooler conversions around, but can't remember where at the moment.

On the contary roofer! I was hoping for some positive feedback by like minded enthusiasts (as above) regarding a subject/conversion that you clearly know nothing about! I suggest you get down your local Libary and select a few books on BASIC engine tuning!

Alpina have done the work or you, for do you wanna impress the 'Ladeeeez' with a throttle blip down sarfend.

Saying that, i would be interested to see a link that shows proven dyno gains by fitting a CAI on a derv.
