brilliant car, its the best bmw make according to clarkson - do a google search
very quick, good handling, powerful brakes, well made, mine is rorty with the bmw performance exhaust, not too expensive new - bit of a bargain as a used demo. i think its as good as the m3csl i used to own and much more fun than a previous 335i
i dont think its that ugly in black - it reminds me of the first couple of 3 series generations, the looks are very sensitive to colour its good in black and silver is ok as well but some of the other colours dont do it many favours
135i looks very different from other models when parked side by side btw

re test drive, just do a used car search and it will tell you which is the closest dealer with a car
in terms of why a 135i and not a e46 m3, thats easy - the 135i is more modern, much much cheaper to insure and service, more tuneable and you can have a nearly new one with 2.5yrs warranty for the price of a secondhand E46.

It's a fantastic car, I have done nearly 6000 miles too, and really do enjoy it.
Some pro's and con's:
Pro's
- Engine is awesome, this car is seriously fast. Two US mags have achieved 0-60 in 4.8 secs and 0-100 in 11.9 secs
- MPG, I average 25mpg with hard driving, 32 mpg on the motorway
- Handling / suspension - does not crash or tramline like a 1 series hatch or 3 series coupe, best ride on a BMW with 18's that I have driven
- Interior, solid and well put together, looks fantastic in red
- HiFi DSP - superb sound
Con's
- Tendency to understeer really irritates me, especially coming from an S2000
- RFT's are s
t when cold and wet (nearly dangerous!), fine in the dry
- Expensive to spec, my car was £32.5k without IDrive, elec mirrors, cruise, and lots of other stuff (I have got HiFi Pro, Leather, Ipod/USB, Xenons)
- Exhaust note, could be more aggressive and louder (350Z sounds better)
It looks best in white, I drove a black and it looked a little boring, white just looks so good on the 1er, especially the coupe.
This car DOES NOT HAVE an LSD and it needs one.
However, once you completely disable the DSC/DTC you can enable an e-LSD which is a simulated electronic version. But, it does not work as well.
My car is leased for two years, after that I plan to do the following:
- Ditch the RFT's and increase the front tyre width to stop understeer
- Remap the ECU (360bhp)
- Install a BMW Performance exhaust
What have I done so far:
- BMS Air Intake - no performance gains, but sounds great
- 'Golf Tee' mod - improves the exhaust note at low revs
- CDV - changed the clutch delay valve for smoother high rev changes
It's the most complete BMW that I have drive, and I can partly agree with Clarkson's comments, but I personally had more fun in the Z4MC. But it has the Z4MC beat on running costs, interior, residuals, usuability of power.

You might not need to change the tyre size. Having recently changed the rft's on my Z4 to F1 Asymetrics I was surprised how much sharper the steering was. When I changed them on a 120D M Sport, a little more pressure made the steering very responsive.- Tendency to understeer really irritates me, especially coming from an S2000

Dam it's quick.. Watching that speedo just whip round the dial in third was impressive to say the least.
Only problem I had was that it was kinda quiet. I actually think my clubsport is louder when you have the throttle wide open..

Becoming very tempted, especially if they give me good terms for handing my Z4 back early (PCP).
Was considering a second hand cayman S but I'm supposed to be looking for something that has more than two seats so if the 135 is as good to drive as it sounds it may be just what I need.
