E39 auto gear shift

Hi there,

The metal which covers the centre of the gear shift on my 525d E39 is peeling off at the top. It's a bit irritating as it scratches my fingertips each time I shift! Any ideas where I could get a replacement from and how easy it is to change the shifter on the auto?

There are many for sale on ebay , in fact I have a used wood one & a new unused black leather with silver center, if you want either then let me know.


To remove, place the selector in N, grip the knob [ha,ha] firmly with both hands and pull with some force upwards, being very carefull not to punch yourself in face seriously it can happen
