1989 318 suspension parts?

Just a quick question on someone elses behalf.

My dads pride a joy is a 318 Touring on a G. Its coming up for an MOT and needs a few parts, one of which being drivers side shock absorber.

Main dealer has quoted £400+ which is probably more than the car is worth on paper now sadly.

He's tried euro part and the local motor factors - any other recommendations? Looking for shock absorber & stub axle assembly.

I would replace both legs rather than one, front ones should be the same as saloon. Have you tried GSF? cross check part numbers here.
