330 when for 1st service....?

Right I've not been involved in owning a new car in ... well forever.
My dad however got a 330i SE with delivery miles last year. Car was built June 07.
The cars saying 15,000 miles will be the 1st service. Or to be honest they'll hit 2 years before that!
Anyway I was surprised the BMW wouldn't want to see the car after a few x,000 miles or every 12 months possibly for a bodywork check.
I could just be paranoid, but I dont want him to blindly follow the service computer and find he's missed some warrenty inspection requirement.

I was wondering just how good it is to stretch out the service gaps as well. My 530i has 3 green lights remaining meaning its going to be about another year until it needs a service. It's last service was a year ago. Is 2 years between services really a good idea?
Modern oil is very good & long life + the engine tolerances are much much less these days. I remember years ago of the industry talking about sealed engine units which would do 100k then you changed the engine (maybe now the milage would be higher) so coolant/oil etc all sealed for life.
They can do it.
