BMW 318iS window problem

Hi all, both the electric windows on my car start to go up then come down slightly. If I inch them up, they will go all the way up and stay there. Any ideas? is this a common thing? cheers all

Common thing. The seals get dirty, pull on the glass and activate the anti-trap feature.

Give them a clean and see if that improves it.

Exactly what I was thinking. My driver's side one does this occasionally. If I hit the button once it goes about two thirds of the way up and then sets off down again. I have to hit the button again to stop it and then press and hold the button to make the window go right up. Cleaning the rubber seals and the glass seems to fix it.
