Had a look on A.T. last night and there are MANY available from £6999. Quite a few one owner & FBMWSH. Fair enough they have 100k+ miles but £7k for one full leather, sat nav, tv etc. Why buy that 58 reg vectra when you can have this baby.
Anyone think these are a bit too cheap or is it going rate?
I love the look of the E39M5 and was shocked at how low they are.

nope. Cheap as chips they are. I'm getting rid of mine later this year, or early next. Full BMW sh (bar the last service). slightly less than 200K £4k will do.
Ok taking yours for example - can you recall what you have had to spend on servicing from 100k to 200k.Or any failuers? Also what do you know of that will need doing in the next 12 to 24months?

Expensive when go wrong though aswell.
I get about 20 - average. Communting, and SDP. Most days it gets a little blast.
Having a bit of fun out with friends will see an average of 17mpg.
Buy a cheap one, as long as its had an inspection and you cant really blame it for having the odd eppi. Sadly now is the time when they are bought by plebs and b

I manage a 'real' average of 17MPG from a 5.7L V12 M Power engine - so I'd assume the M5 is a little better......

I had the 335d as low as 18.
My worst is 7.1 mpg. The computer doesnt seem to register anything less than that.

Servicing comes up - I think every 2 years, or 3000 litres of fuel consumed - or so I have read. For me that it about every 15 to 16k miles.

Thats quite good going, mind you your milage is under half mine so I'd have double the costs.
Servicing has varied on mine - typically 15-18k motorway miles. Never change the oil between the service lights, primarily as I see little reason to do so and secondly, my one (an early one) uses on average a litre of oil every 7-800 miles.
Servicing by BMW has varied greatly. Some really know what they are doing, some simply haven't a clue. Find a good independent, the last major service cost me £400 including new pads, which is less than half the price the clowns at my local main dealer wanted.
I treat it more gently now, but it a car that thrives on a good stab of the right foot. Lovely noise when you're in the right mood. Perhaps an odd thing to say, but it's not the most comfortable tool when you're tired and you just want to get to your destination.
If long journeys are your thing then seriously, consider something else. But if there's an open road with long sweeping bends punctuated by straight empty roads the V8 is a peach. Personally I prefer it to the newer model. It's a rare thing these days, a car that stirs the beating heart.

I'd ask why ?Personally I'd disagree... I've done 100k+ miles in the last 4 years in mine and that includes jaunts with the family down to Southern Spain via Calais... Never once have I thought to look elsewhere.
They are true mileage munchers and thrive on being driven ...
