E39 hella headlights question

Hi,
Just fitted angel eyes to my e39, but the beam angle seems wrong. There is a lever under a plactic panel that ajusts the light for left/right hand side driving. Im not sure what position the switch is ment to be in. It says on the headlight "see handbook" I have read the book but there's no mention in it at all.

Can anyone help please

If its a prefacelift car did you remember to use the brackets which fit under the headlights?

its a pre facelift (2000 528 sport) and I got the lights and adaptors from euro car parts.
they came with new mounting bracked (which I fitted)

should be fine if you used all install bits - I did mine back in 2001 with hella's from ECP and all has been fine - only issue was the need to do the gentle bend of aircon pipe. sailed through 7 MOT since with no problems on alignment.

one of mine was not aligned correctly the beam was about 4 foot infront of car.... I lifted it using the ajuster after checking with my copy of TIS which screw did height
but its still not right so I am wondering if the lever is in wrong position
