does the cover under my 2000 318 have to be removed to do an oil change

Unless there's a little flap to access the drain plug. Not so sure about E46's

On my 325 e46 there is the little door so you can get at the drain plug, guess a 4 cylinder will have it too. Oil filter is on top of engine of course, lovely!
