your dealer can suppl you with an x6 for a weekend if that is what you want. however you need to show that you are serious, as it will cost the dealer £200 per weekend to hire a car from BMW UK's fleet. Therefore i sugges you go back and engage in a serious conversation with the sales team, and hope they will loan you a car as part of any acceptance of a deal they offer to you.
I looked at one at my local dealers last week while i was waiting for the M3 to be fettled.
Black, cream leather, it looked great, i'd have one in a heartbeat.
To the op, i can't see BMW lending you a new £50k motor for the weekend for free, unless you bought from that dealer before or have built a good relationship with said dealer.

I had a variety of demos for several days at a time last time I changed my company car, but without exception all of the dealers (of various makes) denied such a thing existed. I contacted our fleet leasing company and suddenly anything I wanted was available.
MB said they didn't have a car close enough to what I wanted to try so they'd register one! It took a few wks but they drove a brand new C220CDi Avantgarde Estate auto 200 miles to my house to try for a few days.
Surely BMW must have the same facility?

Cars for demos to retail clients are completely seperate (i.e paid for by the dealer) to the fleet BMW UK run for their corporate fleet buyers...unfortunately, so yes, if your company fleet manager can help you out that may be your best chance.
far be it for me to demonstrate extensive knowledge on the subject, but it is entirely possible for a retail customer to have a long term ( weekend ) loan car off the dealer, via BMW UK's internal fleets. However it does cost the dealer money, and they ain't gonna spend it unless they are sure the punter is going to buy. It costs the same for the corporate loaners as well. as of oct 1st all of BMW's loan fleets were merged into 1 fleet, now customer services, dealers and corporate sales have to battle over the same pool of 300 or so cars.my lease company did the same, but have to say, Merc corporate were by far the best
I had an E320cdi Avantgarde for a week. When they called to ask whether I liked it, I said it was nice, but a little too softly sprung for me. Their response? An E320cdi Sport arrived the next weekend for another week long loan.
At one point, i even had a C Class and an E Class at the same time.
(Still chose a 5 Series in the end though)
