Good afternoon all,

An unconventional problem but one I am sure the PH collective can answer. I have an E60 5 series and when I connect my Iphone via the centre console aux socket the sound only comes out of the left hand speakers. This was also the case on my E92 coupe. If I pull the cable out at the car end a couple of mm I do sound through both channels, this isn’t viable as it falls out so I’m gathering that the leads (ive tried several) might only be configured for analogue? Any suggestion on a cable that does work in stereo and where to get it from?

is this using an ipod connector or a 3.5mm jack? I had similar problems with the jack after a while. Now I have the full ipod integration, it is trouble-free.

This is using a crappy Maplins 3.5mm to 3.5mm. Are you saying that you can get a 3.5 to Ipod interface lead?

hi,if you look at the end of the lead that plugs into the aux socket, there should be 2 rings for stereo sound,if there is just one ring then it will just be a mono lead. E-bay or any bmw dealer would have one, price ranges from £4 to £10

+1, i think this is the correct answer - if you have one ring on the plug then its a mono lead

You can and I was using one, but my Aux socket was loose. Now I have the full £700 BMW ipod kit (yes, I'm extravagant). The ipod interface lead does give better sound, becasue it is not attenuated by the volume control on the ipod.
