Hello chaps,

Just bought my wife a little '00 (w) E46 318. Nice little car, and cheap!

Anyway, it's got a few issues.

Firstly, the throttle pedal is very stiff and sometimes sticks. - Is it fly by wire, or can I just grease up the cable?

Second, the radio. It doesn't work. The stations are found, but I can't hear anything. I'm not sure what's going on, as I've not got any tapes (!) to test it with, but should I see the volume going up when I twist the nob, as nothing on-disply changes. Any ideas why it's silent? Is there a way to mute it which I haven't found?

Lastly, one of the electric mirrors is broken - where can I get a replacement, ebay?

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Cheers,
Alex.

When you adjust the volume nothing comes changes on the display, not sure why you aren't getting sound though.
As for the mirror, yes ebay is probably your best bet, far cheaper than the dealers.
Aren't the throttles drive by wire rather than cable? Certainly is on my 330, although I have no idea on the 318. If it's just the pedal that is stiff and sticking, there must be a pivot on it, maybe it's corroded, try giving it a clean, you can take the pedal out quite simply, there's guides on the net.

Heya chaps.

It is a cable, and after a bit of grease has made it a bit better.

Stereo is a bit odd. I am at my mothers, and borrowed a cassette so we will see if is just the radio that is broken. When theradio is 'on' I can hear a faint crackle from the speakers, but it doesn't change when I adjust the volume.

The centre console next to the handbrake lever can be fitted with different "clip in" inserts - one of which is the cup holder. Not pretty but general consensus is that they are effective. Have a look on ebay.
