Can anyone help.

My recently purchased x5 has aftermarket wheels fitted without the pressure sensors, is it possible to switch of the computer function that keeps telling me the system is inactive every time i get in n out? If so how?

I didn't think the wheels had sensors. Doesn't it calculate an incorrect pressure from a relatively sudden change in rolling circumference? i.e. it compares the distance travelled and the number of times the wheel turns compared to the other three wheels.

Are you sure that it is not just a case that you need to reset the system from the settings menu?

Have you told your insurance company that you've ceased to use this vital safety feature, and that you've changed the wheels from those originally fitted?

If not, then you might as well have 3rd party only insurance.

Ignore him.
Find a dedicated technical forum would be my advice.
There are plenty of X5s running around without non BMW wheels and other models which have the warning system but are on aftermarket wheels.

Soundlike it needs a reset . . .

...because you obviously need all the help you can get. I don't want to be smashed into by an out of control X5 with dodgy insurance, thanks.

Cos you will have a bleedin' great i-drive knob in the center console!!!

You're really not helping yourself here mate with comments like that. Even the most helpful posters here will frown on that question.

Nope, ive only had it a short while and its just the work horse. I haven't had time to digest the manual yet its bloody enormous. learning as i go finding new gadgets daily.

Cheers for your help, popped into BMW earlier and they couldn't help and said it wasnt possible to turn the function off so will have to live with it.
