E34 Service light issue

I've just bought an E34 540i (93) with service history. The garage advised that their resetting tool had not been able to sort the service lights. It has no greens showing only 1000 miles after the last service.

I've run an OBC check and all the lights lit up on that so this can't be bulbs or presumably battery issues.

Does anyone know if the paperclip trick on the 20 pin port will work or have any other suggestions? No I haven't checked the fuses, will add that to the list!

My LKM is also up the pole but don't think that's related.
