No need for twin tuner.
Set up classic as one of the TMC default stations, and hey presto, it goes green and gives you traffic information. If you are following a route, it will automatically advise you of known problmes en route, and offer you a diversion.

I am referring specifically to the E39 and E38 that i have

You need to have a TMC enabled disc for the Traffic Message Centre to work. A lot of the OEM CD discs (if not all) were not TMC enabled. You can get them on e-bay but they will be back ups...
This will explain my confusion. My E38 has Sat Nav with TMC (though I have never got it to work), but also has traffic master installed. I could never understand why it had both.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
