2009 model E60 iDrive
Discussion
I went to my local dealer today to enquire about one of the 08-plate 535d MSport Tourings which have just been released into the dealer network (about 20 or so of them, if you do a search on BMW's AUC thing).
It hadn't yet arrived with them, though. When he was checking the spec I noticed he was looking at a 2008 brochure. I asked what differences the 2009 cars had - he said there was no 2009 model year, and that the 08 ones were current spec. However, when he showed me the interior of a new one in the showroom, he explained that the iDrive had more buttons; clearly it's been changed as with the facelifted E90 and new 7-series, very quietly.
Did make me suspicious that there may be more 2009 model changes. Anyway, back to my original query: is the new iDrive better than the old?

Thats the one in the revised e90 with the hard drive. Is that definitely the one now fitted to the e60?No - 5's and 6's have the new buttons, but it's still the old idrive. The new one is only in 3's and 7's at the moment, so far as I could find out at my dealer. I played with the idrive in a new 6 which had the extra buttons, and can confirm that the software in that was definitely the same as in my June 2008 M3.
