Z3 - dim dashboard

Does anyone know what could be the cause of the digital readout on the dash of a Z3 to be dim (virtually unseeable), turning the control knob doesn't make a difference. Any help appreciated as this is on a potential to buy car and I need to know whether it's going to cost a lot to put right, before I make an offer. Thanks.

Turning the light switch knob is what should do it - I would guess that if turning it makes no difference to the brightness at all then the gadgey that it connects to behind the switch is no longer being turned.

Sounds like that's what it could be then. I'll speak to my BMW indi specialist in the morning and get his thoughts on it. I did try zroadster, but keep getting a critical error when trying to access the forum. Thanks for your help.

I did think that initially, but on closer inspection the readout is there, you've just got to get you nose right up to it to read it. I'll have to ask "he who should be obeyed" tomorrow. Cheers.
