Hello,

My 530i will not blow hot air into the cabin. the cold air is fine and the air-con works but when i turn the heater contole to hot, no hot air comes through!

Has any one had this problem? or can any one advice on the problem?

Cheers

Chris

Obvious question, (but simple to check) is the radiator full enough?

What is the temp guage showing when driving in clear air? It may need the coolant changed this process will flag up other underlying issues :

1. Airlock
2. Faulty Thermostat.

temp gauge is smack bang in the middle. so theres nothing wrong there. that mean the coolant is fine?

Hmmm. It is odd.

My 325 E36 is the same, but if I rev it above 4 or 5k rpm it seems to then blow hot?

Looks like coolant & stat are fine it could be an airlock.

Definitely sounds like air in the system.

Take the cap off and rev the engine (obviously don't take it off when hot)

This should move any air round and out, you will need to keep topping it up with coolant.

The E39 is notorious for this.

I have an E46 however I have read on this forum that the E39 has multiple bleed screws there is a thread here some where that points them out.
