That looks to be sweet as a nut mate. If it checks out to be so, I think you could do a lot worse at that money.
It looks to have the 19'' alloys too, though personally I'd be waiting for the right 4.6 V8 though......

Lust no more.

As a not too distant relation to the same series 528i model which pumps out a far more modest 190-odd brake that alone enables some truly excellent velocities to genuinely surprise, the additional near 100, here, can only be a boon for more emphatic delivery of what a blessed few have come to know as being an uncommonly fine orchestration of silken sixism.

You will conduct 160 mph schlepperhorns with an ease many might swear the preserve of airborne conductors alone...

Thing is, Patrick, matey's 528i whilst wonderful in it's own right, badly needs supercharging: I know it, he knows it.

However, whilst describing a monumental parabola the other evening at some not inconsequential barrel of automotive fortissimo, we concluded the segue into Alpinadom - given his insistence of manual 'box stirrage - must needs be a 3.3 (or, conceivably, an earlier 3.2) instead of the default B10 V8 route.

Of course, this assumes he doesn't dip his wick meantime into the pool of pure abandon represented by the absurd allure presently of the 750 which is, of course, my preferred method for his divorce. hehe

Check your insurance first too. All Alpinas are classed as imports. For example my 330ci costs me about £250 a year to insure. An Alpina B3 was going to cost me £1500+ ! (unless you can garage it and stick it on a classic policy)

Car is on the Alpina Register http://www.thealpinaregister.com/register/B10/3.3/... Number 55

Previous Owner is an Alpina Enthusiast who I think owned it for about 5 Years

Nice looking Alp.. 18" Softlines not the 19" classics though.

Still as mentioned, it belonged to an enthusiast so I'm sure it has been well looked after which is ultimately the key factor when buying these cars.

I've owned a variety of E39s but the B10 is an absolute joy. And my insurance was only 100 notes more than the 540.

Take it for a spin!

"All Alpinas are classed as imports."

Not quite - depends on the company: my big name insurer had no problems at all, they're on the drop down menu: they just have to know what to look for.

I think they're classed as imports for road tax reasons which is handy on the newer ones.

I very nearly travelled North to see that car. Luckily, I found this closer to home:

I bought my 3.2 Manual 3 week's ago and I love it! I've had it checked over by a local BMW Master Technician and I have a few standard E39 parts to replace to get it A1. These are truly fantastic cars. I love the way mine looks, rides, handles and sounds. God only knows how good an M5 is but frankly the running costs are probably double that of the Alpina.

Go for it - You won't regret it. Knowing what mine cost me, I think that car is a £1000 too hot mind you.

Good luck!

MANUAL, MANUAL ! driving

I didn't realize the B10 came as a manual.
Presumably it's a straight 6, the later 4.6 being a V8 and auto only?

I could really, really fancy one of those. woohoo

Just a shame about the planks of wood nailed to the interior. yuck

It is a lot of pennies though.
If a big powerful saloon is what you're after, a similar XJR would be almost half the price.
(But auto and not as exclusive of course).

Garage was closed when I got there - undeterred, I pressed my face to the showroom window, in the manner of a 12 year old schoolboy. There it was, at the back of the showroom, bearing a large sign reading SOLD.

Never mind, some things aren't meant to be......

Well, if I'm made redundant this week (it could happen,) I'll let you know.

Utter drivel.

The B10 understeers for Bratislava by comparison.

There could not be two more dissimilar driving experiences!
