Hi,

I'm trying to repair an incomplete wing mirror and have a few bits missing, one of which is the 12 pin connector on the wiring. I asked the main dealer if I could buy one and he was set on making me buy a complete mirror (there's zero chance of me doing this), with no other alternative.

Does anyone know if you can buy just that?

If so, do you also happen to know if you can buy the 'thingy-mbob' that connects the mirror to the body of the car? This is coated metal bracket (mine is snapped in two).

Any ideas/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Cheers

First of all, what car is it?
You can usually buy the plugs seperately, but they are awkward to find, and you then need to make up the plug pins yourself.

Breakers with a pair of wire snips?

Hi,

Sorry, that would be useful! I assumed they were just standard for BMW, but...

...its for a wing mirror for an E46. Essentially, I have a mirror that has been broken off from the base so just has wires hanging from it. I need the wire to reconnect it, and, if I can find it, the bracket that joins the mirror to the mirror base. BMW main agent are not at all keen to help.

Breakers might be an option!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just "Google" what you need. ALL of the VAG/BMW blah blah connectors are available for pennies from Hong Kong/China - The rip-off centre of the world - but good for us. You'll have to wait 3 weeks for delivery - but, hey, who cares at pence rather than hundreds of pounds....

Right, I think I've found the 12-pin connector at another dealer (thanks to the head office), but am struggling with the metal bracket.

Anyone got any ideas?

not sold seperately, unless it is a different model, as i just picked an e46 at random.

complete mirror or breakers yard (or ebay in fact)

Yeah, been trying eBay (with no joy) and have a contact inside BM who's looking into it for me.

The pain is, the parts I need are just small components. I might actually end up seeing if I can get a fabricator to make the metal bits.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to see if the wiring is what I need too.

Thanks again.
