Hi folks!

1. How do owners find the standard Z4 seats for comfort? I'm talking long journeys (500 miles!) on occasion! Got rid of my 330Ci couple of years back as I could'nt find a comfortable position.
2. Are the cars pretty quiet/less wind noise with hardtop fitted? I have experienced varying results with hardtops over the years.
3. Is it easy enough to upgrade hi-fi from standard?

Thanks in advance, very close to buying!

1. More comfortable then M Sport. Obviously some will disagree, although head restraint almost none existant so dont crash.
2. Pretty quiet without so I imagine so.
3. Yep, same as any other car.

1. took me a while to find a comfy position, but have done a couple of 200+ mile journeys now without a problem. Mine felt like I was twisted a little, but seems to get better with adjustment. The electric seats are easy to tweak so shouldn’t take long to get yourself sorted
2. Again, mine’s pretty quiet with the soft top, so would imagine a hard top is ok (although hard tops seem to be quite rare)
3. Would imagine it’s easy, but the carver stereo upgrade is pretty good, so try one out before you make a decision to upgrade the sound system

Hope this helps…

I'd echo Steeevvoo's thoughts. I have had no trouble with aches in enthusiastic European driving over the distances you envisage, that said I had a courtesy car with sports seats and I would imagine they give better support.
I can't comment about the hard top, but my thoughts are that the Z4 is supposed to be driven at least some of the time roof down. Why bother with a tin top? You loose the flexibility to drop the roof if the sun comes out. The soft top is well insulated - no complaints about mine.
As for the stereo - I have the top-end Carver and think the world of it, great sound quality when driven at "autobahn" speeds roof down. Only very insignificant disadvantage is that you lose a couple of in-cabin storage bins to the extra speakers.

I picked up a significant back injury a few years back and have no problem with the standard seats, so you should be ok.

I agree, the electric ones are easier to tweak to just the right position, or you can make tiny adjustments any day it doesn't feel right, and have 3 'good' memory settings.

Cruise control is useful as once it's engaged you're not stuck in one position all the time.

I had MSport seats in my 120 and they were better for lateral support though I've read the Z4 ones are less comfortable over a distance, being narrower, perhaps.

I'm 6'2" and 96kg. I've never had a problem with the M seats in 36k miles in two Z4's.
