Slow start in the cold for my auto 530
Discussion
I'm finding that on cold mornings my auto 530 (e39) is slow to accelerate and although I put my foot down the car is slow to pick up for the first few hundred yards (I don't mean foot to the floor but gently accelerating). The car lives outside and the effects are found when the temperature is down to about 1 or 2 degrees C. or lower.
I don't remember this in previous years and the car is fine once it has travelled a few hundred yards.
Is this common or is something going wrong?!
Your thoughts will be appreciated.

I've got the same car and have to admit I haven't noticed this, but I do pull away pretty slow and keep it steady for the first mile or so until things havr warmed through, esp in this cold weather.
Maybe the car has a 'safe-mode' that prevents too much load going through the engine / drive train until it's warmed up a bit?

Thanks Matt. Any other comments folks?
no idea if it's a safety mechanism, but if you think of it, when an engine is cold it will be producing less power when really cold because there is a lot more friction with engine parts as the oil is cold and not thin enough to lubricate everything and so on. if it's fine after a short while i wouldn't be concerned unless it's really bad. naturally, you should treat a car really easy when it's cold out.just my 2 cents.
