any e60 525d owners?
Discussion
After trying a E60 M5 and being somewhat dissapointed (great fast cruiser, but designed more for quiet long distance mile munching) I wondered if while im trying to find the *right* car, if a E60 525d for sale locally might be a good idea?
Im assuming it'll be as quiet and comfortable as the M5, but obviously very slow but economical...
can anyone tell me about the performance/running costs, pros and cons etc..?

I guess i was expecting it to be more like a M3/911 and it wasnt - it was a definate long distance mile crusher, very capable, but i just didnt feel like it was worth the 14MPG...
yes a slow wobbly diesel will be worse, but i expect it to be, and if it can have the long distance virtues with non of the costs, then its worthwhile (especially at half the price)..

Ive got a 58 plate 525 msports Diesel auto. It oes about 40mpg on a pacey run and 37 urban. It comfy, well built and turns some pace when provoked. I got out of a 35d to this and needless to say its alot slower but turn in grip on the 5 is better and I really quite like it.
A1 build and paint finsh on these cars too

I'm currently running a 2005 E60 525d sport. It replaced a E39 version of the same model of which I think it's a big improvement (except maybe the looks and ride). Since I've had it it's really impressed me covering 25,000 miles without fault, last year I took it to Scotalnd and the North of England for 10 days on my honeymoon and it returned around 37mpg which isn't bad for an auto. Strangely enough though as your trying to get out of an M5 I'm hoping to be going the other way and get out of the 525 and into an M5. but that's a long way off!
If you do decide to go for it, I don't think you'll regret it especially as the newer 525d's have even more power than mine does.
