Just rang BMW - they said that can only buy colour coded PDC sensors for my model (54 reg 530d M sport). This is because it's the M Sport. Can anyone confirm that this is the case as I've seen a few unpainted 530 ones advertised on ebay but don't want to buy it if it wont fit in my bumper. It's a rear one but don't think that matters.

Cheers in advance

Boony, I recently got an independent to repalce mine on a 54 plate X5. I found ebay sellers sold them in three's or fours only which made it more expensive. Also on a sport there is a difference between front and back sensors (angle of the electric cable going into the sensor and the diameter). I think I paid @ £100 fitted. They are simple to fit (I believe) but it's ensuring you get the right one. The indy I went to had several black ones in his 'shop.

Seems they have to be factory painted so they don't give false readings (presume the paint thickness has to be exact for them to calibrate).

Many thanks for the info. I think the safest bet is to order a genuine part and have it fitted at the garage I usually use.

Cheers again.
