E38 wishbone ball joint inspection.
Discussion
Hello all, when I got my car it had an advisory note from a BMW inspection (that the dealer had had done when he took it on)that the 'offside dog leg upper wishbone ball joint worn'. The car still drives very well but I do occasionally get a bit of a wobble so I am keen to have a look whats going on and sort out replacement. It doesn't say front or rear but as its described as 'dog leg' I am guessing its the rear (The front ones are straight and the rear wishbone looks dog leggy in shape
). My query is anyone got any experience in what to look out for? Can just the ball joint be replaced or does the whole arm need doing? Any ideas on what a good price at an independent would be? I'm thinking £100 odd for the part then 2 hours-ish to fit it. Any help/suggestions! Thanks.
