BMW Series 7 730d Sport - Sat Nav and Postcodes

I hope someone out there can help!

I am new here, only just purchased my car and would welcome some help. It is Series 7, 730d Sport E65.

I have just updated the Sat Nav to v32 and have bought 09-1 High maps. I believe, reading on the web that I have a NAVI03 navigation system.

Does what I have, have postcodes? Can my system support postcodes? If the answer is yes, how do I find them?

The map disk is a genuine BMW 09-01 High.

Thanks Micken, it is a shame. Do you know if it is because it is a NAVI03, because in all the forums they talk about being able to use 5 digit and some 7! Ta!

Just to confirm your car has the Nav Mk 3 system ie CD not DVD which is Mk 4? If so you should have 5 digit postcode - just enter in the "City" line but you can't get 7 digit on a CD. Five digit works fine (within its limitations)on my Mk 3 system in my E39.

If it is a DVD system you should be able to get 7 digit postcodes (but I don't have one so I cannot be specific and no doubt a torrent of replies will follow saying I am wrong...). Thanks for that. My car does not have a Mk1~1V sat nav...it is driving me crazy. BMW have said it is a NAVI03 system. I guess that is what is stopping me getting postcodes!

You need a mk4 dvd based system with a 2009/1 post code enabled disc.
That is what I have in my 330Ci. Seven digit p/code works fine.

As far as I am aware NO BMW sat navs allow full postcode entry. I recall somebody telling me it is because BMW dont want to pay the fees for the postcode database.

I do think you can can "hacked" discs which allow this but I have no idea what this means for warranty, reliability etc

Apparently the NAVI series are exclusive to E65/66 models and the NAVI03 is DVD based; lots of info here and using "hybrid disks" you may be able to get 7 digit postcode functions (looks like OEM disks remain limited):

Original BMW disks don't have full postcode search facility. However, it is possible to get disks with full postcodes stored as points of interest. These latter disks are sold on the Internet for around £20-40 and usually have scameras too.

I have both an original BMW 2007-1 and a 2008-1 with scameras and postcodes added. They both work fine.
