I am just hoping someone here may be in the know and is able to give me an idea of what i would get as a trade-in for my car against an 07 535D?

The car is:

2001 (51) BMW 320ci
45k miles and Full BMW s/h
Black, Black Leather

I don't suppose the other details are important to get a trade-in value?

They will want to trade that on and not retails it themselves - assuming its a main dealer - take a look at prices of similar cars from dealers on autotrader then knock about £3K off it. That will be the price they will want your car costing them.

Also, at least six months mot, straight bodywork and no scuffs on the alloys will help - they will otherwise knock money off for that.

They will however have some 'headroom' in the price of their car - probably £1000 or so - which they will add on to the price of your car to make it more palletable to you.

Well a dealer near me has a 2000 car up for £5k with similar mileage.

So if you make some sensible deductions from that price.. I'd imagine an offer of around 4k - assuming they want to discount their car to do the deal..

£4k is about the money for that car at the moment.

£4350 to be precise, just had a call this afternoon. Not to worry, they still seem to be on here for sale for around £5500 - £7000 but i don't know what they're actually selling for!

I just bought one of these, so tell you what they retail at an independant trader.

A bit newer than yours - a black 2003 52'reg 320 Ci Steptronic auto, with upgraded (BMW) alloys and black leather sports seats. Done 100,000 miles (so much higher) but with just one private owner and a full BMW service history. Near mint condition, with just a small amount of wear on the drivers seat bolster, drive seems spot-on. Mine for £5500. I also paid a bit more on top of that to extend the AA warranty to 2 years, just in case, given the milage it has covered. But it came with a healthy pile of invoices and bills.

I think I did fairly well, but wouldn't have wanted to be the original owner when he part exchanged that at the main dealer, having paid somewhere between £25k and £30k for it 6 years ago!

The car came from a BMW main dealer apparently.

Steve.

Yeah £4350 was lower then i would want but with the way the market is at the moment i didn't expect them to offer much more for it as a P/X.

I would think anything around £5750-£6000 private sounds about right....

Anyway, thanks for the replies again :-)
