bmw e46 6 disc changer fault ?

hi i have a factory fitted 6 dsic changer in the boot of my e46 330 convertible was working fine till yesterday now its displaying on the tape unit no discs even though cd magagazine is loaded into the changer with discs ???

Are they in the correct way round ?

This happened to mine and it wouldn't eject. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting
the battery to reset it.

This happened on my wifes car just before Xmas - exactly the same symptoms. I had to have a new head unit - luckily it was done under warranty.

Think its a common fault that can be remedied by 're-setting' the unit.

Not sure how this is done but don't think its an expensive procedure.

hi thats what i thought about resetting it but nothing but i cant seem to find a reset button on cd unit and radio unit ???

Happened to a me a couple of times. Pull the cables out of the changer and re-instate them. If this doesn't budge it you can get it repaired at a decent car audio place. For me it was only a week or so before it went again.

If the cartridge is jammed in, it might be time to rip it open to get your CD's out and fork out for a new one.

BMW charge circa £250.
Ebay charge a more realistic £100 (ish)

When mine stopped reading my magazine, i temporarily swapped it from my dads 5 series, and it worked, put mine back in, it worked aswell!
