I placed a thread earlier about a strange knocking noise to the rear passenger side of my car well it turns out actually to be the passenger side front any ideas?Also developed a squeek on rear passenger side suspension.I dont actually notice it when driving,more when people are getting in and out of the car.Also when I push up and down on the rear of the car it squeeks quite badly.Finally a new fault developed today.The car seems sometimes to be under powered and when idling it seems quite lumpy.There again sometimes it seems fine.Iam actually going to change the spark plugs this week anyway do you think this could be the problem as they have been in for at least 20k.

what car do you have? what does it say for the mileage for spark plug change? could well be a possible cause. so could distributor cap. might be worth getting it emission tested to see if the fuel mixture is too rich etc. is it more lumpy when cold, and ok when warm or what?

That will be the handbrake shoes on the backing plate....the rear discs need removing, shoes taken off and cleaned, clean contact points on backing plate and add some copper slip....rebuild and all should be quite

No mate its actually fine when cold but this morning when driving home(about 3 miles)ran superbly.Even arriving home it idled spot on.There doesnt seem to be a set pattern such as when cold or warm,sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt.But when it does idle lumpy its always warm.Oh and great advice Forza west it is indeed the brake shoes THANKYOU
