Kid buys an M3 and leaves his E36 328i on my driveway which I need to move. Battery is flat and has been recharged. Only has one remote - a single button domino shaped affair which is sealed and can't be opened.

Battery connected and alarm/immob' set and unset without any problems. 30 mins later alarm activates (doors where opened, just airing car and alarm wasn't set!) remote will not cancel alarm and the car is now immobilised

No doubt BM will want a fortune for programming and purchase of new fob. So considering removal of complete system - it's getting old now anyway.
I've located the alarm control unit, behind glovebox, which I assume is also the immobiliser. Is it going be straight-forward to remove unit?
Traced majority of wires which appear to go to interior movement sensors, siren, various pin switches and the hazard light switch. Several seem to be spliced into the cars harness, I'm guessing to isolate fuel pump, ignition etc.
Simply a case of cutting and resoldering original wires?

From what I can ferret from the net alarm appears to have been fitted by BM(UK) and was manufactured by Sigma. I believe BM designated system as "3T"

My only concern is the original anti-theft system the ZWEII. I assume the Sigma system would have been linked into this? As I understand it, the ZWE works with a transponder type key, which kid has never owned, just started using the fob and a standard key. If the Sigma kit is removed is it likely the car will still be immobilised?

Advice/thoughts appreciated

Hello,

I had problems with my Sigma BM 3T on my '95 540i. My BM Main dealer removed it for £180.

Hi - I'd have a search on here: I'm not sure you'll need to rip the lot out, it sounds like a reset may cure it.
