my boss has a 5 series on an 05. it has the twin exhausts of an m5 and when i asked if thats what it was (just it didn't have the full m5 kit) he said no, its a progressive 5. its got a 3.5 litre lump (fair enough) but its got 5 turbos and can kick the arse off an m5. could anyone ellaborate on this for me please. is it a 5 stage turbo or what, i'm slightly confused.

Wow! You're kidding, right?? Now, that is a seriously special car your boss has there!!

My 530i is not such a progressive 5 I'm afraid. I make do with around about 4 turbos I reckon. It's not bad I suppose, but it's not the 5 turbo variant. 5 turbos is what all of us really want, if we are honest with ourselves.

He's having you on mate

The M5 has quad exhuasts not twins. Twins are 6 cylinder/8 cylinder models.

either just joking with you've taken it seriously, or he's full of st.

Ideally having this pic on you would help :

Now theres no such thing as a 3.5 litre 5 series, but there is a twin turbo 5 series diesel which is ofcourse the 535d.

Now if hes on about kicking arse of an M5 then you could have met dxb's father who may claim that the 535d mapped could kick the m5s arse whilsit having a good mpg.

Personally I think he's just messing.

Ask him to point out all the turbos smile
