I know the E46 is (in)famous for snapping rear springs, but both rears have now gone on our '04 Z4 3.0.

Is this common on Z4s, and should the dealer cover it under the AUC warranty?

I got a substantial (possibly 100%) BMW contribution for this, even though my car was outside warranty. A FBMWSH may well have counted in my favour, but a friendly dealer (Dick Lovett, Bristol) also helped.

Don't get me wrong, I'd happily do that myself, but not if it should be covered under warranty - that makes it their job.

Happily, they didn't argue with that.

I did argue with £350 to re-gas the aircon though rolleyes

Clever, isn't it.

Do you know, I think I might give it a miss?

Just call a mobile aircon guy and pay £50-£70
