All,

Whilsting parking between 2 cars with the windows down I noticed a new 'clink / clinking' noise from under the car.

It is only heard when the initial 'thunk' is taken up when pulling away, either in 1st or reverse.

Im sure the matter is prop or diff related as it comes from the rear. The exhaust and heatshield are all fine.

I had the 'centre driveline bearing' replaced as per this post on M5 board,

...but after a decent bill the noise is still there. It is rather annoying to say the least.

Anyone got any ideas....other than getting a louder exhaust to drown it out biggrin

Here are a couple of vids of the noise. Turn the volume up!

I had what I would also describe as a 'clink' when driving over bumps and was only noticeable with the window down. It turned out to be a rusted bracket on the exhaust pipe that was loose and needed replacing.

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought exhaust bracket. Apart from that I've got no idea. Sorry.

I get the same type of noise in the same situations as you although I don't think my diff is the same being a Alpina Roadster. I spoke to a couple of technitians and they seem to think it was a seal or something.

Try the post below for some more idea's - I think I mentioned TIS 330121
