Has anybody found a way of getting the rear wheels aligned on an X5 without paying main dealer £350 for full axel alignment. Apparently there is a BMW only tool required to adjust the toe and camber which any well equipped tyre depot can measure, but cant get the tool! Frustratingly expensive for a simple job.

Any professional tyre centre can do it. I`ve had my `07 done, full job just under £100inc vat.
I`ve always wondered how well the cars are set up from new and, as it turned out not very!
I originally asked my BM dealer about this work and they said `£350, because we have to use special laser equipment you know!` Major BS.

When my 05 plate had it's first MOT last year it revealed that the inside edges of the rear tyres were down to the canvas. Something not aligned up here then. Must get it done.

the adjustments points are 18/19 for toe, and 7/8 for camber.

KDS & KDSII are used by bmw I believe KDS is bmw name for the hunter system. Even stealers vcan get it right - I rejected my X5 tracking by main dealer as they failed to return car with steering wheel central when front wheels straight ahead.......my advice would be to get it done after an MOT elsewhere so you know they arent going to tell tall tales of expensive bush replacement work required that might not need doing just yet.

I had my X5 done at dealers but on back of new bushes at front and after many visits to kwik fit in hope of cheapo solution on back of tyre fitment.
...................Simply don't even go there !

The list of tyre shops using using hunter system is on link below

Hope this helps
