So, it seems servicing is relatively OK on the Z4, but I am wondering about other costs...

How often the tyres need replacing, and at what cost
How many miles between services (obviously this depends case-by-case)
Average MPG and MPG with town driving and motorway driving
Other costs I should be aware of

3.0i or 3.0si?

Tyres from a stealer are around £210 each rear - but say 150 IIRC from a tyre place. Depends if you keep RFT or not.

15k miles between services, oil, insp1, oil, insp2, oil, insp1 etc

I get average 30mpg from my 3.0i, upto 34/35 on a motorway run.

No other real issues, but I'd get a warranty.

Si. The Coupe 3.0 only has the Si engine.

The services I thought were adjustable, dependant on how you drive it? (Perhaps just on newer ones). Ideally I want one that is based on miles, rather than years, so I can go 1.5 years between services.

Why would you get a warranty?

I may be wrong (again) but I'm pretty sure service intervals are actually based on fuel used (as reported by the onboard computer).

Yes, that's exactly it, Grover. So then if you drive it 'briskly' and short journeys all the time, it'll adjust it to a lower period (though I would hope I'd get 10k+ miles)

Ah, remembered what else I wanted to ask... How long should other consumables last? Brake pads and discs, for example...

Only bought one set of tyres, and that was to get rid of the rfts. Goodyear Asymmetrics, 18"s, @ £600. Falkens are popular and cheaper non-rfts.

Mpg being discussed here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&am...

I suspect the real difference in your total costs during ownership will depend on what you pay for it in the first place. Depreciation is not what it was and I've seen some for sale a year old which must've been £12k under list. Petrol prices fade into insignificance compared to that.

I've had no major problems with mine in 5 years, though coil springs break, like E46s, I believe and are @ £120 ea repaired by main dealer, I read.

hehe - I'm not bad, work keeps me busy, and I'm still paying to run the Z4 even though I don't even live the country... go figure wink

The Z4 is a good car, I've had some good times - and it's very capable as an all rounder. If I were to change now (and move back to the UK), it would have to be a Z4M Coupe!
